The US is pressuring Israel to ignore its security concerns and persuade a skeptical Israeli public to accept US Secretary of State John Kerry's plans, which include Israeli withdrawal from the Jordan Valley in stages over the next 10 years, according to recent reports by Channel 2 news.
US head envoy over the peace talks Martin Indyk has met with senior IDF generals in recent days according to the report, urging them to accept the deal.
Further, Indyk and his staff have reportedly told generals to "go to the media and be interviewed and respond, because they have the impression that the Israeli public has doubts about the subject."

Aviv Kochavi lists missile threat ahead of Iran nuke program; says in time, though, cyberwarfare will prove most dramatic change on battlefield
The head of Israel’s most powerful intelligence agency depicted Wednesday a changing battlefield in which offensive cyber capabilities will, in the near future, represent the greatest shift in combat doctrine in over 1,000 years. For now, though, he said, the 170,000 rockets and missiles pointed by enemy states at Israel represented the most pressing threat, a danger he placed even above Iran’s rogue nuclear program
“Cyber, in my humble opinion, and you don’t have to agree with me, will be revealed in a not very long time as a revolution greater than the creation of gunpowder or the usage of the aerial space at the start of the past century,” said Maj. Gen. Aviv Kochavi, the head of the IDF’s Military Intelligence Directorate. Kochavi, a former infantry officer, called the possibilities inherent in cyber warfare “nearly limitless, and that is not a metaphor.”

Session spurred by Dutch firm’s decision to cut ties with Israeli banks over government’s West Bank policies
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will convene a meeting Wednesday morning with senior ministers in order to discuss growing concerns over European sanctions against Israel
The session will include most of the government ministers, Haaretz reported, including Economy and Trade Minister Naftali Bennett, Foreign Minister Avigdor Liberman, Justice Minister Tzipi Livni, Finance Minister Yair Lapid, Defense Minister Moshe Ya’alon, Education Minister Shai Piron, and Science and Technology Minister Yaakov Peri.
Military Intelligence, Foreign Ministry, Mossad and Shin Bet representatives will also attend, as will the Attorney-General and Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories.
Koenig: The extremely weak EU economies will be 'toast' if boycotts hurt Israel!
Finance Minister says European boycotts will ‘hit every Israeli,’ hike up living costs and cut government budgets
A boycott of Israeli products by European countries, in the event that peace talks fail, would be a dramatic blow to the Israeli economy, Finance Minister Yair Lapid warned on Wednesday, in his address at the Institute for National Security Studies conference
Based on an evaluation prepared by the Finance Ministry’s chief economist, Lapid said that even a low-scale boycott would “hit every Israeli citizen directly in his pocket.” The cost of living would rise, and education, security, health, and welfare budgets would be slashed, he said.
Furthermore, exports would face a loss of NIS 20 billion, GDP would likely be lowered by NIS 11 billion a year, and 9,800 workers would be laid off immediately.
“We must recognize that if the talks fail — and the world will believe they failed because of us — there will be a price, and it’s best we know what that price is,” Lapid said.

Margaret MacDonald is not the mother of the pre-tribulation rapture

by Todd Strandberg
I have visited just about every anti-rapture web site on the internet. One common point used on nearly every one of these sites to oppose the pretribulation doctrine is the claim that the rapture theory was started by a Scottish girl named Margaret MacDonald. Many critics of the rapture declare that MacDonald received her vision from demonic origins, and that she then passed on the message of that vision to infect the Church. Being a staunch pretribulationist, I'm at a loss to explain the connection between Margaret MacDonald and my beliefs in the rapture. I cannot recall ever hearing pre-trib prophetic speakers say, "I believe in the rapture because Margaret MacDonald told me so."
After reading and listening to a number of web sites, books, and radio programs that promote the idea that Margaret MacDonald started pretribulationism, I decided to look into the matter.
To be certain that I made no oversight, I searched through my library of prophecy books for references citing Margaret MacDonald as the founder of the rapture teaching. My hunt turned out to be in vain. It was like looking for the cartoon character "Where's Waldo." Only in this case, no Waldo was to be found.
If MacDonald was the founder of the pretribulation rapture, as most anti-rapture proponents say, then someone needs to explain why rapturists have failed to give her credit. You would expect to find dozens of books that expound upon her every word. From reading the writings of anti-rapture authors, one would think we pre-tribbers would be reverencing MacDonald as Catholics do Mary. But clearly we don't. Pre-tribbers don't go around reciting, "Hail Margaret full of grace, blessed art thou among visionaries, pray for us sinners at the time of the rapture." If MacDonald were the founder of the doctrine of rapture, the lack of recognition we rapture believers pay her would be comparable to the modern Mormon church failing to recognize Joseph Smith as its founder or to the Jehovah's witnesses neglecting to identify Charles Russell as that group's originator. Poor Margaret MacDonald, she gets all of the blame, but none of the credit.
After having examined the claims of those critical of the rapture, I have found holes large enough to drive a dump truck through in their so-called evidence:
The first problem with the MacDonald origin is the fact that she wasn't the one who widely taught the doctrine of the pre-trib rapture. A man named John Darby is believed by many to have sparked modern interest in the rapture. The question here is how Darby came to hear of MacDonald's vision. Proponents like Dave MacPherson and John L. Bray have never been able to prove that Darby had ever heard of MacDonald or her vision.
Darby himself claims the revelation of the rapture came to him when he realized the distinction between Israel and the church.
Darby reported that he discovered the rapture teaching in 1827, three years before MacDonald had her vision.
When one closely examines MacDonald's vision, it becomes clear that her vision could not have been a pretribulational one. MacDonald looked for a "fiery trial which is to try us," and she foresaw the Church being purged by the Antichrist. Any pretribulation rapturist can tell you the Church will be removed before the advent of the Antichrist. John Bray, an anti-rapturist, said himself that Margaret MacDonald was teaching a single coming of our Lord Jesus. This contradicts current rapture doctrine, which teaches a two-staged event - first, Christ coming for His Church and second, seven years later His return to earth. With so many contradictions between MacDonald's vision and today's pretribulationism, it is difficult to see any linkage.
By far the biggest mistake post-tribulationists have made attacking the rapture is claiming that the pretribulation rapture wasn't taught before 1830. In fact, John L. Bray, a Southern Baptist evangelist, offered $500 to anyone who could prove that someone taught the rapture doctrine prior to MacDonald's 1830 vision. Bray was first proven wrong when he wrote in a newsletter, "Then my own research indicated that it was Emmanuel Lacunza, a Jesuit Catholic priest, who in the 1812 book The Coming of Messiah in Glory and Majesty, first taught this theory." Bray stuck his neck out again when he made another $500 offer to anyone who could provide a documented statement earlier than Lacunza's 1812 writings. Apparently he had to cough up the 500 bucks. I quote him again: "I offered $500 to anyone who would give a documented statement earlier than Lacunza's time which taught a two-stage coming of Christ separated by a stated period of time." No one claimed that offer until someone found writings that forced Bray to write the following: "Now I have the Photostat copies of a book published in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in 1788 but written in 1742-1744 in England, which taught the pretribulation rapture before Lacunza." Lately, a number of other sources have been located that teach the pretribulation rapture--some written as early as the second century. Where does this leave Margaret MacDonald?
In my life here on earth, I've made a number of observations that I regard as undeniable truths. One of these is the fact that the truth will suffer attacks with no one defending it, while a lie will be allowed to proliferate with no one challenging it. This seems to have taken place in the case of the rapture. For years on end, anti-rapturists have been allowed to attack pretribulationism freely. One assailant called the rapture the mark of the beast while another remarked that when Jesus returns at the battle of Armageddon, He will fight against those who believe in the rapture. The people who should have been contending for the rapture, for the most part, just said, "That may be your opinion."
Finally, it appears that those who hold to a pretribulation rapture are beginning to counter the ridiculous charges. A number of books have been published that cite several pre-MacDonald sources describing a raptured Church. Author Grant Jeffrey deserves a good deal of praise for his work in discovering many of these sources.
As far as being able to find the pretribulation rapture in the Bible, we don't need to be rocket scientists to discover it. For me, locating the rapture doctrine in the Bible was as simple as finding evidence that Jesus Christ is Messiah.
The evidence that Christians believed in the rapture long before MacDonald does not seem to have sunk into the minds of those opposed to the rapture. They still teach that she is the founder of pretribulationism. When someone is presented with overwhelming proof that he or she is wrong and refuses to accept that truth, then we certainly may conclude that he or she is in spiritual darkness.
I would like to conclude by saying that no evidence whatsoever points to MacDonald as the source of pretribulationism. Every major prophetic author alive today claims the Word of God as the foundation for belief in the rapture. Both Jesus Christ and the Apostle Paul made statements that clearly establish the rapture doctrine. Jesus said, in Matthew 25:13, "Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh." Paul affirmed in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18: "For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive [and] remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
by Todd Strandberg

What Secret Rapture?
Many Christians in the prophetic realm today believe that when the rapture takes place, very few individuals left behind will understand the true reason for its occurrence. The common reasoning portrays the people left behind as being stunned at first, but then quickly developing some sort of amnesia. The idea that no one will pay any lasting attention to what would have to be a cataclysmic event seems hard to believe. This is especially true since so much information about the rapture has already been disseminated in the form of millions of books, radio or TV broadcasts, and even in the form of bumper stickers: "In Case Of Rapture This Car Will Be Unmanned."

How the Idea of a Secret Rapture Became Predominant

Most Christian writings, when it comes to the world's reaction regarding the rapture, paint a picture of total ignorance of what has happened. The common understanding is, in order to have the Antichrist come to power, a blanket of ignorance needs to be thrown over all tribulation events. The unsaved typically say, "Where did everyone go?" This thought process has dominated rapture writings for the past 25 years. I believe the whole purpose of the rapture is to get people's attention. In contrast to what some authors think, information about the rapture permeates society, so much so that the occurrence of the rapture will likely cause a good deal of weeping and wailing.

Will the World Take Notice of the Rapture?

The world will most certainly take notice when the rapture occurs. If the Statue of Liberty suddenly vanished from New York Harbor, ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN would break from regular programming to cover this marvel. To have millions of people disappear without a trace, the media storm cannot be imagined. If one car or airplane crashed without a driver or pilot, it would be a major news item. After the rapture, the media will have thousands of examples to choose from. Think of the vital positions that Christians hold in the workplace. Many businesses will be paralyzed by the loss of key personnel; the economy will suffer a devastating blow; and millions of people, who had friends and family members raptured, will be terrified. The rapture will create a media event that will rival any breaking news event from the past. If you turned on your television, you would find 24-hour-coverage on every channel. The President would be calling emergency meeting after emergency meeting, and churches would be filled to overflowing.

How the Devil Will Deceive the World

Right after the rapture, millions of people will find "religion," repenting of every sin they have committed--and of some they haven't. The prophecy section in all Christian bookstores will be cleaned out, and you may need reservations to attend Sunday church services. Well, maybe not at all churches. The world will be in a state of supreme chaos, and out of this mess will arise the man who will have an answer to every question. This man, the Antichrist, has been repeatedly mentioned in the New Testament. Paul the Apostle spoke of him frequently. The Antichrist will be the greatest salesman in history because he will sell the people the biggest lie ever. Satan will be so impressed with him that he will give this man his full power. Paul also stated that because the people will have no pleasure in the truth, God will send them strong delusion that they may be damned. Exactly what that delusion is, we can only guess. What methodology the Antichrist will use to explain away the rapture, I have no idea. Some say he will cite space aliens as the reason, and some say the explanation will be that they went into another dimension to receive better understanding. If we are truly grounded in the Word of God, no lie, no matter how beguiling, will be able to shake us loose from the truth.

Obama Is Getting His Dictatorial Ducks in a Row

One thing that has made the United State a great nation is the stability of our government. Some nations are so unstable that their governments can barely go a year without collapsing. If it wasn’t for the Civil War, our record would be nearly spotless.
The fact that this year will mark our 238th year of independence from Britain doesn’t ensure we will celebrate our 239th milestone. Freedom doesn’t come with age; it has to be maintained with vigilance. It deeply concerns me that this generation will mark the point where liberty stumbles and America becomes just another banana republic.
I don’t place all the blame on President Barack Obama for the erosion of our freedoms. George W. Bush should be noted for setting into motion a number of programs that put our liberties at risk. I think the biggest mistake of his term was the creation of the Department of Homeland Security.
As much as I disapprove of George W. Bush, I would gladly turn back time and add two more terms to his presidency. Bush may have made many mistakes, but at least he meant well. Obama appears only to be out for himself. I think the American people have made a huge error in giving power to a man who is so lacking moral character. He has been one of the most deceitful president’s in our nation’s history. Not only has he been repeatedly proven to be a liar, he has allowed a culture of dishonesty to permeate Washington D.C.
At some point we have to ask ourselves, “What danger does Obama pose to our liberties?” Even the tiniest indication of despotism on his part needs to be challenged. Once you lose your rights, it often requires the shedding of blood to get them back. Here are five signs that have me most worried about Obama’s commitment to Democracy:
1. The first problem I have with Obama is how much he has the liberal media in his back pocket. It’s no wonder that our nation is a mess when you have the press unwilling to directly criticize the president for his disastrous policies. The NSA scandal, the IRS scandal, Obamacare, Benghazi, and Syria have all been huge failures that should have deeply marred Obama’s presidency. If the liberal media is willing to give him a pass on these major missteps, I have to wonder if they would say anything negative if Obama decided do something crazy like make himself president for life.
2. Obama’s obsession with surveillance should worry people who care about their freedom. All police states need a good spy network to maintain order. Obama keeps telling us that the target of the NSA is terrorists. The Snowden revelations should trigger a major reassessment of the government’s role in our lives. Any system that requires enslavement to maintain security is a cost that is too high.
3. Another fixation with Obama is getting revenge on people or organizations that dare cross him. When S&P downgraded the ranking of America’s debt, the Justice Department indicted the firm, leaving two other rating agencies untouched. Just last week, Dinesh D’Souza, the maker of an anti-Obama movie, was charged for giving too much money to a candidate who sought to replace former New York Senator Hillary Clinton. Anyone who leaks information to the media has to do so knowing that the White House will go to any length to find them out.
4. I’m also troubled by Barack Obama’s use of executive orders to set policy. He has already told Senate Democrats he plans to use his executive authority to act in 2014 when Congress stands in his way. The reason why the Founding Fathers made it so only Congress can write laws, is to avoid autocratic rule. When you allow the president to be a dictator in some areas, you set into motion a process that will quickly give him power over all areas of government.
5. The move that makes me the most suspicious about Obama’s intentions is his mass firing of military leadership. The president has the highest record for firing generals than any in living memory. Things have gotten so bad that a number of retired generals are publicly speaking out about the “purge” of the U.S. military that they believe is taking place. Since the military leaders are sworn to defend the Constitution against all enemies foreign and domestic it’s necessary to weaken the resolve of the military ranks.
Our nation is ripe for political turmoil. Despite all the claims of an economic recovery, a record percentage of the population is dependent on the government for some form of welfare. We have so thoroughly set our course with decades of harmful fiscal policies, the collapse of the dollar or banking system is only a matter of time.
One of the reasons I am so concerned about the government’s encroachment on our civil liberties is the likelihood of what will happen in the coming financial calamity. If President Obama is able to clip-away at our rights in good times, I hate to think what will happen when things turn desperate.
--Todd

On the Brink of Crisis

The following is an excerpt from my upcoming book, Cauldron: Supernatural Implications of the Current Middle East. I use it in this Nearing Midnight column space this week because of the very recent remarks by a major one-world builder. His remarks are given below this excerpt from my book.

***
America moves ever farther away from the solid moorings provided by the founding fathers through the stabilizing pillars of the Constitution. More significantly, the nation’s leadership and its citizenry have moved away from the God of Heaven. Such rebellion is the poisonous prescription for cultural and societal disaster.
“Change” was the promise of the winning political party’s campaign in the 2008 presidential race. This is one promise President Barack Obama has kept 100 percent. The change his administration has brought has been staggering in its direction and scope. The intervening years since that election have taken America and her people on a downhill run toward socialism more destabilizing than that which has brought Europe to the very cusp of collapse. And, the architects of the blueprint for the promised change haven’t let up on the throttle as the nation hurdles toward the economic abyss.
At the heart of the drive to bankrupt America—which, in effect, has already been accomplished—is the president’s “affordable health care law.” That massive grab of the taxpayers’ financial security known by all as “Obamacare” has usurped one-sixth of U.S. private industry by starting the collapse of the insurance companies in order to bring about single-payer, government-run insurance that is socialism at its worst.
Despite the so-called roll-out of the program that proved to be an unmitigated disaster, beginning with a nearly $700-million website that went nowhere in helping people sign up for the insurance that was so confusing and inaccessible that it also went nowhere, mainstream media and those wanting the “change” doubled down on efforts to indenture every citizen to government healthcare welfare. It was welfare paid for by the working taxpayers, who proved in poll after poll that they preferred by large majority their health insurance and the healthcare industry as it was before the president’s political party, with a majority in both houses prior to the 2010 elections, steamrolled Obamacare through Congress.
The “change” that has taken place since the Obama administration began its attempt to bring America into a socialistic model has strapped working citizens, their children, grandchildren, and beyond with trillions of dollars of debt that can never be repaid. Many believe this has been done deliberately in order to bring the United States into configuration like and compliance with the New World Order the world’s elite financiers and governmental leaders want to construct.
The American political process at the presidential and congressional levels stands starkly in the way, however. Every two, four, and six years, there is the possibility of turnovers in political aims and ideologies. Competing ideas and desires are, by the nature of our Constitution, allowed to disrupt any government voters perceive as going in the wrong direction. That includes the ability to disrupt the New World Order plans to reshape the nation into a world government designed by the global elitists. Thus, we see in this present hour a lawlessness beyond any that could have ever been tolerated by the founding fathers as possibly ripe for disruption by the voters. The founding fathers did imagine such governmental tyranny; therefore the safeguards of the Constitution against such tyranny are assured in the founding documents of the nation.
Now we see the reason those safeguards were put there. We also understand why there is the incessant tearing away at that Constitution—the consistent and constant bypassing and ignoring of that all-important document at every turn by this president and the sycophantic media (which, incidentally, is owned and/or controlled for the most part by elitist, globalist types). These who want an ever-growing big government to control buying and selling through redistribution of wealth and harsh regulation must somehow do away with constitutional safeguards that protect the rights of the people. The ability of the masses to vote these central-planning, big-government controllers out of office must be eliminated.
There can be sensed a growing dissatisfaction with the anti-constitutional direction into which the nation was swept in the 2008 and 2012 presidential elections. Fear is that the forces, national and international, having made enormous inroads in bringing America the “change” they intended, now sense those gains losing ground. The worry is that these forces, having demonstrated a complete disregard for lawfulness and constitutionality, won’t hesitate to do whatever is necessary to prevent losing those gains.
Therefore, it is more than possible, in the thinking of many, that as the midterm and presidential elections approach, if it looks like their socialist ideology will lose at the ballot box, the administration and its political party will do whatever it takes to control the outcome. Illegal voters and voter intimidation have become an increasing part of election fraud. It is suspected that methods much more dangerous to our representative democracy are being planned as the anti-constitutionalists see the possibility of the changes they’ve begun to slip away.
Specifically, there is suspicion, whether based in truth or paranoia, that those “change” agents, so intent on altering America to fit their socioeconomic reconstruction, will create a crisis of magnitude serious enough to issue an executive order suspending elections. Martial law!
One such crisis, it is thought, might involve creating an economic situation dire enough to suspend welfare payments. This could, some believe, cause civil unrest even worse than what occurred in Greece and other places in Europe when state-provided funding was cut off some months ago. A financial fiasco of even greater dimension and scope might be forthcoming, it is supposed, because of other manipulations by those who are in control of government.
Rumors abound, as anyone who has access to Internet will attest, that Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is reported to be preparing for civil disasters and/or unrest of some sort.
Be watchful for a crisis of some sort to develop that the media will assist in magnifying, if the political fortunes of those in political power begin losing ground in the polls. All of the internal goings-on in America constitute a pressure cooker almost as incendiary as the cauldron that the Middle East troubles represent.

I find my thoughts, written some time ago for the new book, more than validated with recent remarks by one of the top globalist-elitists. The following is an introduction to him.
Writing for the Atlantic Council, a prominent think tank based in Washington DC, Harlan K. Ullman warns that an “extraordinary crisis” is needed to preserve the “new world order,” which is under threat of being derailed by non-state actors like Edward Snowden. The Atlantic Council is considered to be a highly influential organization with close ties to major policy makers across the world. It’s headed up by General Brent Snowcroft, former United States National Security Advisor under U.S. Presidents Gerald Ford and George H. W. Bush. Snowcroft has also advised President Barack Obama. (Paul Joseph Watson, ""Think Tank: 'Extraordinary Crisis' Needed to Preserve 'New World Order,' Infowars.com, 1/17/14. My thanks to Christopher Mangan for the article.)
Ullman was the author of the term you would remember had you watched coverage of the assault that finally took down Saddam Hussein. “Shock and awe” was the term used to frame that truly spectacular, mesmerizing assault launched during George W. Bush’s presidency.
The article exposing the growing concerns regarding power slipping away from the world’s power elite, thus the need for a “crisis,” continues.
In an article entitled "War on Terror Is Not the Only Threat," Ullman asserts that “tectonic changes are reshaping the international geostrategic system,” arguing that it’s not military superpowers like China, but “non-state actors” like Edward Snowden, Bradley Manning, and anonymous hackers who pose the biggest threat to the “365 year-old Westphalian system” because they are encouraging individuals to become self-empowered, eviscerating state control.
“Very few have taken note and fewer have acted on this realization,” notes Ullman, lamenting that “information revolution and instantaneous global communications” are thwarting the “new world order” announced by U.S. President George H. W. Bush more than two decades ago.
“Without an extraordinary crisis, little is likely to be done to reverse or limit the damage imposed by failed or failing governance,” writes Ullman, implying that only another 9/11-style cataclysm will enable the state to reassert its dominance while “containing, reducing and eliminating the dangers posed by newly empowered non-state actors.”
Ullman concludes that the elimination of non-state actors and empowered individuals “must be done” in order to preserve the new world order. (Ibid.)
There is a "crisis” coming for the neo-Babel architects. I believe it is to be found in Bible prophecy--specifically in 1 Corinthians 15:51-55 and 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18.

IAF chief: Israel will destroy Hezbollah bases in Lebanon, even ones in residential areas - http://www.jpost.com/Defense/IAF-chief-Israel-will-destroy-Hezbollah-bases-in-Lebanon-even-those-in-residential-areas-339773

Israel accused Lebanon's Hezbollah guerrillas on Wednesday of putting "thousands" of bases in residential buildings and said it would destroy these in a future conflict, even at the cost of civilian lives.

The unusually explicit threat by air force chief Major-General Amir Eshel appeared to be part of an effort by Israeli officials to prepare world opinion for high civilian casualties in any new confrontation with Hezbollah in Lebanon.

Israel says Iran and Syria have supplied improved missiles to Hezbollah, which fought the technologically superior Israeli military to a standstill in a 2006 war in Lebanon.

"We will have to deal aggressively with thousands of Hezbollah bases which threaten the State of Israel and mainly our interior," Eshel said in a speech, citing Beirut, the Bekaa Valley and southern Lebanon among the locations of the bases.

Other Israeli officials have alleged that Hezbollah uses Lebanese civilian homes as missile silos or gun nests. Eshel said the guerrillas sometimes had entire floors of residential buildings ready, under lock and key, to be used in combat.

"Above and below live civilians whom we have nothing against - a kind of human shield," he told the Fisher Institute for Air and Space Strategic Studies, a think-tank near Tel Aviv.

"And that is where the war will be. That is where we will have to fight in order to stop it and win. Whoever stays in these bases will simply be hit and will risk their lives. And whoever goes out will live."

Israeli Defense Minister Moshe Ya'alon said on Tuesday that Hezbollah now had around 100,000 missiles and rockets, or 30,000 more than figures given in official Israeli assessments in 2013.

Last year, Ya'alon showed UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon an Israeli map of alleged Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanese villages, apparently to demonstrate the risk of a high civilian death toll in any new war.

Hezbollah does not comment on its military capabilities but says these have been honed and expanded since the 2006 fighting, in which 1,200 people in Lebanon and 160 Israelis were killed. It says it needs its arms to defend Lebanon from Israeli attack.

Eshel said Israel's military was "dozens" of times more powerful than Hezbollah and had more capabilities than in 2006.

"Our ability today to attack targets on a large scale and with high precision is about 15 times greater than what we did in the (2006) war," he said, saying such intensity was required to keep the fighting short "because the more protracted the war, the more missiles we'll be hit with here".

Much of Hezbollah's attention is now devoted to Syria, where its fighters have been helping President Bashar Assad battle an almost three-year-old insurgency.

While content to watch Hezbollah and the Islamist-led Syrian rebels fight each other, Israel worries that its Lebanese foes will obtain more advanced weaponry from Assad's arsenal.

On at least three occasions last year, Israeli forces allegedly bombed suspected Hezbollah-bound arms convoys in Syria.

Asked whether Israel had done too little to intercept such transfers, Eshel said Israeli forces still had the upper hand.

"I don't think this is a failure," he said. "I think the State of Israel has extraordinary deterrence which should not be discredited - significant deterrence, bought in blood."

Experts: China Boosts Space Warfare Capabilities - Bill Gertz -http://freebeacon.com/experts-china-boosts-space-warfare-capabilities/

U.S. military and commercial satellites highly vulnerable to Beijing's anti-satellite missiles, killer robot satellites

China is developing anti-satellite missiles and other exotic weapons that can destroy or disrupt vital U.S. military and commercial communications, space warfare experts told Congress on Tuesday.

"The current and evolving counterpace threat posed by China to U.S. military operations in the Asia Pacific theater and outside is extremely serious," said Ashley J. Tellis, a former State Department and National Security Council strategic specialist.

"And the threat ranks on par with the dangers posed by Chinese offensive cyber operations to the United States more generally," said Tellis, now with the Carnegie Endowment.

China's growing space warfare capabilities were the subject of a hearing at the House Armed Services joint subcommittees on strategic forces and seapower.

Robert L. Butterworth, a former chief of strategic planning at Air Force Space Command, said China's growing space weapons include cyber weapons, electronic jammers, laser, both high- and low-earth orbit ASAT missiles, and recently the launch of small maneuvering satellites capable of attacking or grabbing U.S. satellites.

China's military is preparing for a future military conflict with the United States, and as a result its counterspace weaponry is being developed to limit U.S. joint warfighting that currently is very reliant on satellites for communications and the maneuvering forces over long distances, Butterworth said.

"For the near term, at least, I think [China] will probably favor systems to achieve mission kill by attacking U.S. satellites directly, either from orbit or on the ground," said Butterworth, now head of the consulting firm Aries Analytics.

As part of preparations for future space warfare, China is seeking to determine what U.S. satellites to kill, and in the future may covertly place sensors in space near key U.S. strategic satellites to assist in targeting for future attacks, he added.

Butterworth said many U.S. war plans currently assume military satellites will be functioning normally in a future conflict. He said war planners must now prepare for the loss of satellites as Chinese space weaponry advances.

China and the United States are engaged in a "long term military competition," and China regards neutralizing U.S. satellites as a key warfighting priority, he said. To counter the anti-satellite threat "will require real capabilities" that will require high financial costs, he said.

The Chinese space threat "won't be moderated by proselytizing space norms, or deterrence by demarche, or a code of conduct for good guys in space," Butterworth said.

War with China is not inevitable, but stepping up efforts to counter China's space warfare capabilities militarily would help ensure China is dissuaded from conducting attacks in space, he added.

Michael Krepon, a strategic analyst with the Stimson Center, said he regards the space debris caused by China's 2007 ASAT test as a major concern regarding space warfare.

Krepon said he opposes developing dedicated space weapons to counter the Chinese space threat because current capabilities, like anti-missile defenses, have some space warfare capabilities.

Krepon said he backs a "multilayered approach" to the threat combining strategic deterrence of space attacks, with adding more and smaller satellites that are difficult to target and working out an international code of conduct with China and other space-faring nations for space.

"Deterrence is increased by complicating the plans of the attacker," Krepon said.

Tellis, however, said he doubts a collaborative arrangement can be reached with China on conduct in space because Beijing recognizes that U.S. military operations are far more reliant on space. Thus U.S. military advantages can be neutralized by Chinese attacks on U.S. satellites.

Future attacks on U.S. satellites would give China asymmetric military advantages that the Chinese are not likely to give up through diplomacy, he said.

"These dangers are acute because U.S. space systems are extraordinarily vulnerable and extraordinarily valuable at the same time," Tellis said.

Tellis called for greater defense spending on space defenses to counter the threat.

Seapower Subcommittee Chairman Rep. Randy Forbes (R., Va.) said Chinese efforts to restrict U.S. access to space "pose a serious challenge to stability in the Asia Pacific."

"Providing our military with the resources needed to counter potential asymmetric threats to U.S. space assets must be a critical priority for the Defense Department and the Congress," Forbes said.

Strategic Forces Subcommittee Chairman Mike Rogers (R., Ala.) said China's space warfare program was highlighted by the 2007 anti-satellite missile test.

"While the foreign threats are real, serious, and increasing, I don't believe we are responding with real defenses and deterrence," Rogers said.

"We will do so in my fiscal 2017 [defense authorization] mark, and this hearing, and these experts, will help us chart a course to ensure that our space capabilities, and warfighters who depend on them, will continue to be assured," he said.

All three experts said determining whether satellites are under cyber, electronic, or laser attack is very difficult. Additionally, finding the source of an attack also is difficult.

"It can take weeks and weeks and weeks to try and find out where that is coming from and then to actually try to find out who's doing it," Butterworth said.

Tellis said kinetic interference with satellites is more easily detected than electronic and other non-kinetic disruptions.

Detecting such disruptions during a crisis or wartime would be even more difficult than in peacetime, Tellis added.

Asked which satellites flying at high-orbit or low orbit are most at risk of attack, Butterworth said satellites at both altitudes in danger.

"The Chinese have recently demonstrated a high-altitude, direct ascent ASAT capable of reaching geo-[synchronous orbit]," Butterworth said, referring to satellites orbiting 22,000 miles above earth.

Additionally, the Chinese recently launched small satellites that are very difficult to track that can interfere with satellites at different altitudes, he said.

The latest annual report by the congressional U.S. China Economic and Security Commission said China on May 13 launched a suborbital missile that went into high-altitude but did not place a satellite in orbit.

"Although Beijing claims the launch was part of a high-altitude scientific experiment, available data suggest it was intended to test at least the launch vehicle component of a new high-altitude antisatellite (ASAT) capability," the report said.
Sorting Out the Message of the Moons - By Gene Lawley -http://www.raptureready.com/soap/lawley40.html

Anytime there is an eclipse of the moon or the sun it seems to stir up a lot of interest, sometimes almost as the time Hailey's comet came in view from earth a few years ago. To me it looked like a smoky dust ball in our southeastern sky, hardly visible, even with binoculars. Then, it was gone in a few days, never to return in our lifetime.

But four total lunar eclipses in two years, projected by NASA are getting considerable attention among Bible prophecy adherents. There is much more to it in that regard, however, than just four lunar eclipses in two years. It's their timing, visibility and repetitive appearances on certain days of the years. Here is a list of their salient characteristics:

* They will appear on specific annual feast days of Israel.  In 2014, on April 15, the Feast of Passover and October 8, 2014, the Feast of Tabernacles.

* They will appear in 2015 on the Feast of Passover, April 4, and on the Feast of Tabernacles, September 28.

* The moon and its signs are distinctly related to Israel. The Jewish calendar is based on a lunar month of thirty days and a 360-day year. Different phases of the monthly moon cycle become reference points for much of Israel's society.

* The visibility of the eclipses around the world add to the mystery of these so-called "blood moons."  The first one in 2014 will only be visible in Australia, Pacific and the Americas.  In October, it will be visible in Asia, Australia, Pacific and the Americas. In 2015, the first one will be seen in Asia, Australia, Pacific, and the Americas.  And, the last one will be visible in the East Pacific, Americas, Europe, Africa, and West Asia. In the latter region it will be visible in Jerusalem as the moon sets.

Some Observations about These Characteristics

The full eclipses fall on the first and last feast days of the annual seven-feast cycle, seemingly and perhaps purposely bracketing the annual seven feast schedule for each year. Is it to call attention to this annually repeated pattern since God gave Moses the instructions for their observance so many centuries ago on Mount Sinai?

Is it not strange that while the signs of the moon are directed to Israel's attention, rather than the nations (Gentiles), these total eclipses are not visible in Israel, except for the final one, and that, hardly at all? It begs the question, why?

Let's look at the feasts and their purposes in God's plan. They were given to Moses as part of the declaration of the laws of God for the Hebrew nation. They are listed in Leviticus 23 in brief form. Hebrews 10:1 declares the law is but a shadow of the reality that was to come. That is, the law and its sacrifices were not the real thing, but were a foreshadowing of that reality then yet to come. Colossians 2:16-17 reveals that reality is Christ, "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world," as John the Baptist declared in John 1:29.

These feast days, or festivals, had future fulfillments, and we can see that the first four were fulfilled in short order at the time of the crucifixion and shortly thereafter. Jesus was the Passover Lamb. It is unique how exact the timing was for His death. While the priests at the temple were preparing the lambs for that scheduled sacrifice, Jesus was being interrogated by the religious leaders and their Roman counterparts, and they were preparing Him for His sacrifice.  Yet, Jesus was not sacrificed there; He was not part of that sacrifice, and he was sacrificed outside the city.  He was not of the tribe of Levi, which had charge of that other sacrifice; He was of the tribe of Judah and of the order of Melchizedek, that priest of a much higher order (Hebrews 7).

Jesus was buried and in the tomb during the next feast, the Feast of Unleavened Bread.  Unleavened bread is flat bread; it does not rise in its baking. It is essentially dead, thus Jesus fulfilled that shadowed reality in His burial.

But on Sunday morning He rose from the grave and became the first fruit of the resurrection, corresponding to the first harvest time of the year, celebrated as the Feast of "First Fruits."

Then, seven Sabbaths plus one day later the Feast of Pentecost was scheduled.  It was the time of the second harvest, and the fulfillment was the coming of the Holy Spirit to indwell the very lives of the believers, as He was promised.  Jesus had told the disciples, when revealing to them that a Comforter would be coming after He departed, saying in John 14:17, "Bow He is with you, but then he will be in you." Note that this day was a Sunday, the day the church, the body of Christ, was born.

No other feasts have been fulfilled since then, when in less than sixty days four of the foreshadowing feasts were turned into reality. Once in Jesus' ministry, probably about this time of the year, he said to His disciples:

"Do you not say, It is yet four months, and the harvest comes? Behold, I say to you, Lift up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are white to harvest already" (John 4:35).

It is apparent in the context that He is not talking about  the fields of grain before them. Sometime later, as Jesus was about to ascend to His Father in heaven following His resurrection, the disciples had one last question to ask Him:

"Lord, do You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?" And Jesus responded, "It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father has put in His own authority. But you shall receive power, the Holy Spirit coming upon you. And you shall be witnesses to Me both in Jerusalem and in all Judea, and in Samaria, and to the end of the earth" (Acts 1:6-8).

About ten days later, the church was born and here, we see its mission. A few years later, at the conference in Jerusalem, that mission was clearly defined: "God at the first visited the nations (Gentiles) to take out of them a people for His name" (Acts 15:14).  This period of time since Pentecost has been given to that mission, as spelled out in Acts 1:8.  That four months until the harvest in the Jewish annual calendar has become a gap of many centuries.  We have seen the "times and seasons" that Jesus spoke of, in reference to the question asked about the restoration of the kingdom to Israel, now come to pass. The kingdom has been restored to Israel as an independent nation.

There have been no feast fulfillments since Pentecost, yet there is one more time of harvest on the Jewish calendar each year-the fall harvest. The next feast, the Feast of Trumpets, is unique in its manner of practice as an annual festival. It falls on the first day of the Jewish civil New Year, timed with the appearance of the new moon that starts the month's new cycle. The requirement of exact correlation with the timing of the new moon at sundown meant that a two-day option had to be created in case cloudy weather prohibited a vision of the timing of the new moon. (As you may recall, Jewish days begin at sundown and end at the next sundown.)

At the opening trumpet blast from the temple in local practice, the field workers would immediately stop their harvesting and go to the place of meeting for worship.  There, they would meet with the Lord.  It is not that difficult to see the parallel with Paul's description of the Rapture of the believers in 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17:  "For the Lord Himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ shall rise first. Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air. And so we shall ever be with the Lord."

It is not clear exactly when during the festival would the Rapture occur, for Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15:52 of a "last trumpet" when the transformations happen.  In the Thessalonians passage, Jesus "descends from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and the trumpet of God." He also calls it a mystery, and certainly it is, for Jesus

has said, "Therefore watch, for you do not know either the day or the hour in which the Son of Man comes" (Matthew 25:13).

The next feast, the Feast of Atonement, was scheduled on the tenth day of that seventh month (of the religious year). Only believers are qualified for atonement, and this festival foreshadowed that provision in the sacrifice of Christ on the cross.  For the unsaved Jew that provision is not effective until they have recognized that Jesus is their promised Messiah and believe on Him. According to the prophecy of Zechariah, there is a time coming when Israel will look upon Jesus in a much different light, like the light of understanding and reality, and of bitterness and repentance:

"And I will pour on the house of David, and on the people of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of prayers.  And they shall look on Me whom they have pierced, and they shall mourn for Him, as one mourns for his only son, and shall be bitter over Him, as the bitterness over the first-born" (Zechariah 12:10). It will be the time of the true atonement for Israel, as foreshadowed in the Feast of Atonement.

Zechariah goes on to say, in the next chapter, "And it shall be in all the land, says Jehovah, two parts in it shall be cut off and die; but the third shall be left in it. And I will bring the third part through the fire, and will refine them as silver is refined, and will try them as gold is tried. They shall call on My name, and I will answer them; I will say, It is My people; and they shall say, Jehovah is my God" (Zechariah 13:8-9). You can read the rest of the story in Revelation 12, where that great red dragon, the devil, chases them into the wilderness.

That final feast of the seven, the Feast of Tabernacles, points to the coming of Jesus Christ back to earth as the conquering Sovereign, who will close the seven years of tribulation with destruction of evil forces aligned against God, including the man of sin and the false prophet. Those two will be "thrown alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone"  (Revelation 19:20). In the following chapter we are told what happens to the devil-he is cast into the bottomless pit for a thousand  years and Jesus reigns on earth, on the throne of David in Jerusalem.

The Bible says, "And the Word became flesh and dwelt [tabernacled] among us" (John 1:14), and again, He will come to dwell among us, as foreshadowed by the Feast of Tabernacles, thus climaxing that historical calendar of God's plan for Israel, His chosen nation, and His church of Jewish and Gentile believers.

The questions we should be asking now are:

* What is in these feasts that would cause the bracketing of the seven for each of two years?

* For whom are the signs meant, since they are not visible in the land of Israel, except in their fading moments on the second day?

One of my readers alerted me to the following possibility. Noting the worldwide visibility of the eclipses, except in Israel and the Middle East, remembering also that God has scattered the Jews among all the nations, we cannot forget that God is still calling all Jews

back to their homeland in Israel. With our focus on the nation and land of Israel, we forget that a great number of Jews are still scattered among the nations, and those nations are the very ones in the visible path of the blood red moons.  For example, there are about 5.5 million Jews still in the United States and over a third of a million in Canada. How many more are in the sweep of the moon signs over other countries?

The one feast of the remaining three to be fulfilled, the Feast of Atonement, is the one that directly confronts unrepentant Israel with its foreshadowing of their Messiah's unveiling before them. Their recognition and acceptance of Him is set forth in prophecy, as noted above.  Possibly these two factors-the full return of Jews to Israel and the fulfillment of the Feast of Atonement-are the core elements of the message of the moons.

Are these factors, then, clues to the purpose of the moon eclipses, their appearances on the first and last feasts of the annual series, and why Israel, itself, the historical lunar signs recipient, is not the focus of these signs?

Is God making a final call to the yet scattered Jews back to their homeland? Are the Rapture and the Atonement fulfillments a part of this unique, two-year alert and warning of things to come?  Is God's appointed time now upon us?

4,000 year old tablet describes Noah's Ark - Chuck Missler -www.khouse.org

A recently deciphered 4,000-year-old tablet from ancient Mesopotamia contains the specifications for building an ark to endure a great flood and closely parallels the Biblical story of Noah. There is, however, one difference; the craft described on the tablet is round.

The tablet has gone on display at the British Museum in London.

Described by the museum's tablet curator Irving Finkel as "one in a million," he said that the tablet was "one of the most important human documents ever discovered."

The cuneiform passage on the tablet describes a circular vessel known as a coracle, not the rectangular vessel of the Book of Genesis. It tells a similar story, complete with the key instruction that animals should enter "two by two."

"It was really a heart-stopping moment-the discovery that the boat was to be a round boat," Finkel said at the launch of his book The Ark before Noah. "That was a real surprise."

George Smith, a British Museum decipherer, first identified the story known from the Book of Genesis in a seventh-century cuneiform tablet from Nineveh. As Finkel describes it, "when the gods decided to wipe out mankind with a flood, the god Enki, who had a sense of humor, leaked the news to a man called Atra-hasis, the 'Babylonian Noah,' who was to build the Ark.

"Atra-hasis's Ark, however was round. To my knowledge, no one has ever thought of that possibility. The new tablet also describes the materials and the measurements to build it: quantities of palm-fiber rope, wooden ribs and of hot bitumen (tar) to waterproof the finished vessel.

"The result was a traditional coracle, but the largest the world had ever dreamed of, with an area of 3,600 square meters and six-meter high walls."

Elizabeth Stone, an expert on the antiquities of ancient Mesopotamia at New York's Stony Brook University, said it made sense that ancient Mesopotamians would depict their mythological ark as round.

Before this newest discovery, Answers in Genesis addressed the issue of the dimensions and shape of the ark. In their article "Thinking Outside the Box" Tim Lovett writes the following about the ark.

"While the Bible gives us essential details on many things, including the size and proportions of Noah's Ark, it does not necessarily specify the precise shape of this vessel. It is important to understand, however, that this lack of physical description is consistent with other historical accounts in Scripture.1 So how should we illustrate what the Ark looked like? The two main options include a default rectangular shape reflecting the lack of specific detail, and a more fleshed-out design that incorporates principles of ship design from maritime science, while remaining consistent with the Bible's size and proportions.

"Genesis describes the Ark in three verses, which require careful examination:

6:14 - "Make yourself an ark [tebah] of gopher wood; make rooms [qinniym] in the ark, and cover it inside and outside with pitch [kofer].

6:15 - "And this is how you shall make it: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, its width fifty cubits, and its height thirty cubits.

6:16 - "You shall make a window [tsohar] for the ark, and you shall finish it to a cubit from above; and set the door of the ark in its side. You shall make it with lower, second, and third decks" (NKJV).

"Most Bibles make some unusual translation choices for certain key words. Elsewhere in the Bible the Hebrew word translated here as "rooms" is usually rendered "nests"; "pitch" would normally be called "covering"; and "window" would be "noon light." Using these more typical meanings, the Ark would be something like this:

"The tebah (Ark) was made from gopher wood, it had nests inside, and it was covered with a pitch-like substance inside and out. It was 300 cubits long, 50 cubits wide and 30 cubits high. It had a noon light that ended a cubit upward and above, it had a door in the side, and there were three decks.

"As divine specifications go, Moses offered more elaborate details about the construction of the Tabernacle, which suggests this might be the abridged version of Noah's complete directions. On the other hand, consider how wise Noah must have been after having lived several centuries. The instructions that we have recorded in Genesis may be all he needed to be told. But in any case, 300 cubits is a big ship, not some whimsical houseboat with giraffe necks sticking out the top.

"Scripture gives no clue about the shape of Noah's Ark beyond its proportions-length, breadth, and depth. Ships have long been described like this without ever implying a block-shaped hull.

"The scale of the Ark is huge yet remarkably realistic when compared to the largest wooden ships in history. The proportions are even more amazing-they are just like a modern cargo ship. In fact, a 1993 Korean study was unable to find fault with the specifications.

"All this makes nonsense of the claim that Genesis was written only a few centuries before Christ, as a mere retelling of earlier Babylonian flood legends such as the Epic of Gilgamesh. The Epic of Gilgamesh story describes a cube-shaped ark, which would have given a dangerously rough ride. This is neither accurate nor scientific. Noah's Ark is the original, while the Gilgamesh Epic is a later distortion."

Articles about the tablet seem to give credence to the thought that the ark was round rather than rectangular. The Bible, however, makes it clear that the ark wasn't round, given the dimensions God gave to Noah. They make the same mistake that others have made about the ark of Genesis vis-à-vis the ark of the Epic of Gilgamesh. They assume that the author of Genesis merely copied the story of Noah and the Flood from the Babylonian story.

Given the integrity of the Old Testament as a divinely inspired work, the opposite is true.

Soft Tyranny. That's what we have in America. How do you like it? You are given enough freedom to make it seem like you are free. The politicians say just enough of the right things to calm your mind and cause you to "check off" that they are handling those troubling things just as you elected them to do. All the while, they are telling you what you want to hear, and, at the same time, doing what they want to do. As the verse in Jeremiah 8:11 says, "For they have healed the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying Peace, Peace; when there is no peace." You are told you have the right to freedom of speech, religion and assembly, but you know deep down that if you exercise them, you are subject to ruin.

Soft Tyranny. Alexis de Tocqueville defines it in his book Democracy in America, Volume II (1840) as: "After having thus successively taken each member of the community in its powerful grasp and fashioned him at will, the government then extends its arm over the whole community. It covers the surface of society with a network of small, complicated rules, minute and uniform, through which the most original minds and the most energetic characters cannot penetrate, to rise above the crowd. The will of man is not shattered, but softened, bent, and guided; men are seldom forced by it to act, but they are constantly restrained from acting. Such a power does not destroy, but it prevents existence: it does not tyrannize, but it compresses, enervates, extinguishes, and stupefies a people, till each nation is reduced to nothing better than a flock of timid and industrious animals, of which the government is the shepherd."

Soft Tyranny. This is the kind of thing that appears on your doorstep masquerading as the FBI after you have written about FBI abuse and the Muslim Brotherhood. It appears when the IRS investigates groups or voices who do not agree with the government's political thinking. It is the type of tyranny that causes conversations around the dinner table to be held at a whisper rather than a passionate shout. It is the self-imposed reticence and timidity of recognition that a government has the authority to undo you and to ruin your life. It spies on you, even though you do nothing wrong. And it tells you that it is not spying on you. It harasses you even though you have no malice. It creates a natural paranoia that controls you.

The FBI has indicted Dinesh D'Souza, who made a documentary exposing the occupant of the Oval Office, accusing him of making illegal campaign contributions to a conservative candidate. It appears he was using the same technique of "bundling" that the liberals use. The IRS, FBI, DHS, NSA, FEC, EPA are a host of "agencies" used to enact Soft Tyranny. They go as far as you let them for none of them can withstand a true constitutional test. Galatians 5:1 says, "Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ has made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage." A free people can only exist by adhering to the precepts of God. Bondage is bondage, whether it is sin or tyranny.

Promises . . . with a Prerequisite - Greg Laurie - www.harvest.org

He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
-Psalm 91:1

Without question, Psalm 91 is a real gem among the psalms. Next to Psalm 23, it probably has brought more encouragement and comfort throughout the centuries than any other psalm.

But it's worth noting that the blessings promised in Psalm 91 aren't for just anyone. They are specifically given to believers - and not just to believers in general. These benefits are targeted toward believers who specifically meet the requirements found within the psalm. Psalm 91 is full of what we call conditional promises. In other words, God promises to do certain things for us, hinging on our doing certain things that are required.

Verse 1 begins, "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High . . ." The word dwells could be translated as "quiet and resting, enduring and remaining with consistency." It is very similar to the word abide, which we see often in the New Testament. Jesus said, "He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit" (John 15:5). That word abide means "to stay in a given place, to maintain unbroken fellowship and communion with another."

Here's what God is saying: If you want to experience the promises of Psalm 91 - My protection, My provision, and My blessing - you must dwell in the secret place of the Most High. You must remain in constant fellowship with Me."

We have relationship with God because we have put our faith in Jesus Christ and have turned from our sin. But are we living in constant fellowship with God? Many believers aren't.

God is interested in a relationship with you - not just on Sundays, but throughout the week. He wants you to dwell in the secret place of the Most High.

Who Do You Blame? - Ron Graham - www.straitandnarrowministry.com

"And he said, Who told thee that thou wast naked? Hast thou eaten of the tree, whereof I commanded thee that thou shouldest not eat? And the man said, The woman whom thou gavest to be with me, she gave me of the tree, and I did eat." Genesis 3:11-12. It is human nature to blame someone when things go wrong. This finger pointing started with Adam. God asked him a simple question and Adam blamed the woman for giving him the forbidden fruit to eat, but he also blamed God. He points out that God gave him the woman in the first place. Was it really God's fault? Let's back up a little and see who really was to blame.

God made a beautiful place for Adam to live. There was plenty to eat and all of his needs were provided for, but God gave him one rule: "And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Genesis 2:16-17. Eve wasn't around yet, and God made it very clear to Adam what he was allowed to eat and that the fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil was off limits. "And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man." Genesis 2:21-22. Sometime later Eve had a chat with Satan, who twisted God's words. He convinced her to eat the forbidden fruit. Adam hadn't instructed Eve clearly enough regarding God's "rule". Eve made the mistake of talking with Satan and believing his lies over God's truth. Satan convinced Eve that God really didn't mean what He had clearly said, and that twisting of Scripture still happens today. Eve asked Adam to join in the sin and he chose to go against God's will by also eating the fruit. Adam and Eve learned that God meant exactly what He said and was not exaggerating when He said that if they ate the forbidden fruit they would die. God had no choice but to remove them from the Garden. Death and suffering now touched every part of creation. Is God to blamed for any of this? He isn't, yet we see God still being blamed for the troubles in this world. If our first parents had listened to God instead of Satan, humanity would still be living in that beautiful garden without pain, suffering, or death.

God created mankind gave us free will. He loves us enough to give us a choice as to whether we love, accept, and obey Him. If He hadn't given us the right to make that choice we would be nothing more than robots programmed to obey. God wants us to love Him by choice. Jesus said "If ye love me, keep my commandments." John 14:15. When Adam sinned the fellowship he had with God was broken; a gulf was created that mankind could never cross. God had a plan of redemption, and it would take the ultimate act of love by God to accomplish it.

Even though Adam and Eve no longer were living in the Garden of Eden, God did not abandon them. The rebellion that started in the Garden continued and got worse. "And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually. And it repented the LORD that he had made man on earth, and it grieved him at his heart. And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them." Genesis 6:5-7. Adam lived a very long life and we can only imagine how he felt as he watched the result of his sin grow to the point that God had to destroy man, beast, creeping things, and fowls of the air. I wonder who he blamed now. Did he still blame "woman whom thou gavest to be with me" or did he see the blame of his own choice? I wonder if he ever came to understand that the father of all lies is the one to blame.  Still God loved His creation and Noah, his immediate family, and some animals were saved through God's judgment. It was time for a new start.

Noah had seen the wickedness that caused God to send the Flood but chose not to be a part of it. When he, his wife, their sons and their wives stepped out of the Ark they had a fresh start. They had seen firsthand what full blown rebellion to God looked like and now they had the choice of rebelling or choosing to obey God. The sin nature was still there. Sin and death were still very real. As the population grew so did sin. Sin was so rampant in Sodom and Gomorrah that God had to destroy those cities. Satan was still spreading his lies and mankind still believed him instead of God. Who did these post-flood people blame? Did they blame God?

God still loved His creation, and as rebellion continued He began to put into effect the plan of salvation that He had devised even before Adam sinned. God's plan was to become one of us and shed His precious blood to redeem us. This was the only way to bridge the gap that Adam's sin had created. First the ground work had to be laid. Mankind had to be taught exactly what God views as sin. Man's rebellion had grown far beyond eating the forbidden fruit and God gave the Law to the Jewish people to teach them and us what God sees as sin and what He required to cover it. "Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith." Galatians 3:24. The giving of the Law was only a step in God's plan of redemption. The Law and all of the sacrifices could never take sin away. It could only cover sin. God would have to enter His creation and become man in order to give mankind the only way to salvation. "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth." John 1:14. The "Word", of course, is Jesus who is the second person of the Holy Trinity...God the Son.

God loved His creation and still does. He loves us so much that He allows us to choose to accept Him and His love rather than programming us to love Him. He gave us free will even though He knew before the foundation of the world that Adam would choose to sin and that He, God Almighty, would have to enter His creation as a man to save us from sin and death. Only a perfect God could become a perfect man in order to redeem His once perfect creation.

"Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God." 1 Peter 1:18-21. God has done everything He can do for you. First, He gave Adam and Eve a perfect place to live. They chose to believe Satan's lie and sin and death entered God's perfect creation. As people continued to follow Satan's lies, God put His plan of salvation into effect by giving a very detailed list of His requirements. People still chose to rebel. Finally, He gave Himself. How can anyone blame God for the evils and the hurts in life? When something goes wrong in our life we often ask "Why would a loving God allow that". Did God make you smoke cigarettes so you got lung cancer? Did God force you to into that homosexual lifestyle so you got AIDS? No, it is the individual who chooses to reject God and follow Satan's lies. Do not blame God.

If sin had not entered into creation there never would have been any suffering. It seems that blaming God has become commonplace among men and women everywhere. Because the blind and lost sinners of this world blame God for all evil, they want to eliminate Him from our culture. We only need to look back to the way life was prior to the Flood to see what happens when mankind, led by Satan, ignore God and attempt to remove Him from their life. That's a big mistake. Now read the news headlines and ask yourself if things are much different in today's world. Though mankind is still wicked and rebellious, God still holds all things together. "God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;" Hebrews 1:1-3. God's judgment came once by a worldwide Flood. His judgment is coming again. Right now Jesus is "...upholding all things by the word of his power..." One day soon He will loosen His hold and judgment will come. "Whereby the world that then was, being overflowed with water, perished: but the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men." 2 Peter 3:6-7. Only those who have stopped blaming God for all the problems in their life and have accepted the free gift of salvation through the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ will escape that final Judgment.

It is certain that every person will one day either die or be taken in the Harpazō. If you die without accepting Christ as your Saviour, you will spend eternity in the Lake of Fire. You will only have yourself to blame because you, like Adam, made the wrong choice. Only born again Christians will be taken in the Harpazō and those who are left will face the worst judgment that has ever been. In Jesus' words "For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be." Matthew 24:21. If you have not accepted Christ's free gift of salvation, you need to do that right now at this very moment. Don't put it off because tomorrow may be too late. If you find yourself left here and facing the Great Tribulation, you cannot blame God. He gave His life so you would not have to face His wrath. Blame Satan and the lies he spreads. Ultimately, though, it is your choice and you can only blame yourself for making the wrong choice. Instead of blaming God who loves us, we should be praising Him. "Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:" Ephesians 1:3.

So, who do you blame?

God bless you all,

Ron Graham
